One of my favorite things about Ivy Black is how versatile it is. Ivy Black wedding venue can accommodate up to 288 guests and offers multiple ceremony locations. It includes three indoor ceremony spaces and one outdoor option, making it an excellent choice no matter what Minnesota weather decides to do on your wedding day.
In addition to the ceremony and reception spaces, Ivy Black includes two spacious getting ready suites, climate-controlled facilities, a fully stocked bar complete with bartenders and security, and a beautiful outdoor patio featuring fire pits, cocktail tables, and yard games. Whether you’re envisioning a cozy fall wedding, a vibrant summer celebration, or a winter wedding indoors, the venue offers several packages throughout the year to fit different budgets and seasons.
As a Duluth wedding photographer, one of the things I appreciate most about Ivy Black is how thoughtfully the property was designed. Every part of the venue photographs beautifully, and the timeline flows effortlessly because everything is located in one place.

A Summer Wedding at Ivy Black Weddings & Events
One of the many weddings I’ve had the opportunity to photograph at Ivy Black was Ryleigh and Jarrid’s!
Their day was filled with so much joy. Family and friends gathered to celebrate these two, and every part of the day reflected who they are as a couple: kind, adventurous, and deeply devoted to one another.
Before I share some of my favorite moments from their wedding day, I wanted to share a little bit about how their story began.
How Ryleigh + Jarrid Met
Like many modern love stories, Ryleigh and Jarrid’s story started with a swipe right on Tinder.
Ryleigh knew there was something special about Jarrid during their very first date when he opened his center console to reveal a stash of all her favorite snacks. She jokes that from that moment on, she started practicing signing her name as “Ryleigh Johnson.”
As their relationship grew, she quickly realized the qualities that made Jarrid so special. His calm demeanor and unwavering support became the foundation of their relationship. Whether he’s serving his community as a 911 dispatcher, volunteering with the St. Louis County Rescue Squad, or simply showing up for the people he loves most, Jarrid is one of the most selfless people she knows. He’s the kind of person who would give someone the shirt off his back without thinking twice.
For Jarrid, there wasn’t one defining moment when he knew Ryleigh was “the one.” Instead, sometime during the summer of 2022, he realized he was being loved and supported in ways he never imagined were possible. With Ryleigh by his side, he felt like anything was possible.
The following summer, Jarrid secretly began designing the perfect engagement ring featuring beautiful Montana sapphires before planning a proposal overlooking the Boundary Waters. Surrounded by breathtaking views, he asked Ryleigh to spend forever adventuring alongside him.
One of his favorite things about Ryleigh is her limitless heart. She cares for others with incredible generosity, always putting those around her first. (And, according to Jarrid, she also has a pretty cute smile.)
